Blind Children performing
I, Shiv Kumar Goswami do take this opportunity to apprise you all regarding the foundation of Rashtriya Blind Hostel and Training Centre & Old Age Home. It was far back in the year 2000 that I, met some Blind persons, On close interaction, I came to know that they were hungry and due to their inborn visual disability they were unable to locate the exact destination and were lost in the city. On learning their pathetic and heart breaking story I, decided to help them. On getting a positive nod from my better half I and my wife arranged for their food, shelter and other requisites. Even though the blinds left the next morning but my inner self got a jolt and I, was inclined to do something better for those “Gods Own people”. With the lapse of time I garnered the idea of laying the foundation of an NGO wholly dedicated to the cause of those blinds. By 2004, I had 15 blinds hailing from different parts of India. Initially I, started this NGO at Najafgarh, Dhasa road. It moved on well for 16 years. In 2017 due to certain financial constraints I shifted to Dwarka Sec-19 B, the present location.
As of now our NGO has decided to help Women, who are blinds and have no opportunity to education in their respective villages. Today there are 25 blind girls in RBHTC, hailing from villages to get education and training at RBHTC. In RBHTC we provide free lodging, clothing, meals, medical facilities and facilitate school university level education and professional training.
This all gets possible with the help of Public donation, we do not get any help from government of India. We wish to help more and more blind girls, who do not get opportunity of education. We want to make them stronger and independent.
During past 18 years many blind students inmates of this Hostel have got education, training and jobs. Today we have 30 Blind girls and 18 blind boys. All of them are taking education in Delhi University and Delhi Schools, some of them are preparing and appearing on job oriented exams like SSC, RBI, SBI, Railways etc.
To conclude, it is my humble request to all to donate generously for this noble cause. These students do have a great potential and talent and are desirous to dance to the tune but the financial constraints of their BPL families. It is up to the society to consider that their financial weakness does not hamper their gliding / voyage in the society.
Thanks and regards,
